SSC CHSL is Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination, conducted annually at the national level in three stages called Tiers. The Staff Selection Commission conducts SSC CHSL Exam to recruit the candidates for multiple posts (PA, SA, Data Entry Operator, etc.) in various Government Ministries, Departments, and Organizations of India.

 SSC CHSL Selection Process

The three stages of the SSC CHSL selection process are:

  1. SSC CHSL Tier I – Objective Multiple Choice (computer-based)
  2. SSC CHSL Tier-II – Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive Paper)
  3. SSC CHSL Tier III– Computer Proficiency/Skill Test(wherever applicable)

 

  • The candidates who qualify the Tier-I of the exam can appear for the Tier-II and Tier-III phase exam of the SSC CHSL Examination
  • The minimum qualifying marks for Tier-I and Tier-II examination are(as per previous year):

SSC CHSL EXAM PATTERN FOR TIER III

Educational Qualifications

The Tier III of SSC CHSL will be a Skill Test/Typing Test which would be of qualifying nature. The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined based on the total score obtained by them in Tier-I and Tier-II. 

 

The TIER III will consist of one paper on running matter in the following manner:

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria

SSC CHSL eligibility criteria is based on three parameters:

  • Education Qualification – 10+2
  • Age Limit – 18 to 27 years
  • Nationality – Citizen of India, Nepal, or Bhutan

The educational qualifications according to the post for SSC CHSL are listed below:

How to Apply for SSC CHSL

Once the SSC CHSL notification is announced, the candidates can apply online for the exam on the official website of the commission.

Filling online application for the examination comprises two parts:

I. One Time Registration

II. Filling of online Application for the Examination

 

Part-I: SSC CHSL registrations

As the first step, the candidates need to register themselves on the official website of the commission. For the same, candidates can follow the steps mentioned below:

 

  • Visit the official website of SSC - SSC.nic.in
  • Click on the ‘New User? Register Now link
  • Fill the registration form
  • Click on the Submit button
  • Note down the system-generated registration ID

 

Part-II: SSC CHSL application form

Next, the candidates can log in to their registered accounts using their registration number and password and complete the remaining steps of the application process:

  • Upload scanned colored photo and signature as per the prescribed specifications:
    • Photograph: JPEG format, size 20-50KB, dimension
    • Signature: JPEG format, size 10-20KB, dimension 140×60
  • Fill in the remaining information in the application form

 

Part-III: Fee Structure

Pay SSC CHSL application fee through SBI Challan /SBI net banking/credit card/debit card. The fee for different categories are:

Part-IV: Document Verification

The documents are required at the time of online application submission and final verification. The candidates must have a hard copy of online submitted documents at the time of final verification. Staff Selection Commission will call the qualified students for the document verification process after the completion of the exam process. The candidates must have their Matriculation Certificate, Graduation Certificate, Caste certificate (if filled), and other relevant documents. The candidates are allocated their posts online or at the time of document verification.

Note: Process of Certification and Format of Certificates:

Candidates who wish to be considered against reserved vacancies or seek age relaxation must submit the requisite certificate from the competent authority, in the prescribed format when such certificates are sought by concerned Regional Offices at the time of Skill Test/ Document Verification. Otherwise, their claim for SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwD/ ESM category will not be entertained and their application will be considered (UR)/ relevant category. The certificate of disability issued under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 (1 of 1996) will also be valid. Certificates in any other format are liable to be rejected. Candidates may also note that in respect of the above, their candidature will remain provisional till the veracity of the concerned document is verified by the Appointing Authority. Candidates are cautioned that they will be debarred from the examination conducted by the Commission in case they fraudulently claim SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwD/ ESM status or avail any other benefit.

Provision of Compensatory Time and assistance of scribe:

In the case of persons with benchmark disabilities in the category of blindness, locomotors disability (Both Arms affected-BA), and cerebral palsy, the facility of a scribe is provided, if desired by the candidate. Since the posts are not identified as suitable for persons with BA, therefore the facility of scribe will not be admissible to such candidates.

Ques. I am pursuing 12th. Can I apply for the SSC CHSL exam?

Ans.   No, if your final result/mark sheet is declared before the date, then you are eligible to appear for the SSC CHSL exam.

Ques.  Are there any percentage criteria to apply for the SSC CHSL Exam?

Ans.   There are no minimum percentage criteria to apply for the SSC CHSL exam. 

Ques. Is there any negative marking in SSC CHSL Exam?

Ans.   Yes, wrong answers will cost negative marks in CHSL.

Ques. When will the SSC CHSL admit card be released?

Ans.   Admit Cards will be released 15 days before the exam dates.

Ques.  How many times can SSC CHSL Exam be attempted?
