SSC CGL is Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Examination, conducted annually at the national level in four stages called tiers. The Staff Selection Commission conducts SSC CGL Exam to recruit the candidates for Group B and Group C category posts in various Government Ministries, Departments and Organisations of India.

SSC CGL Selection Process

The Examination will be conducted in four tiers as indicated below:

  1. SSC CGL Tier I – Computer Based Examination
  2. SSC CGL Tier-II – Computer Based Examination
  3. SSC CGL Tier III – Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive Paper)
  4. SSC CGL Tier IV – Data Entry/Computer Proficiency/Skill Test

The candidates who qualify the Tier-I of the exam can appear for the Tier-II and Tier-III phase exam of the SSC CGL Examination

Minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I, each Paper of Tier-II and Tier-III examination are as follows:

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria

SSC CGL eligibility criteria are based on four parameters:

  • Education Qualification – Bachelor’s degree (any stream) from a recognized university
  • Age Limit – 18 to 32 years
  • Nationality – Citizen of India, Nepal, or Bhutan
  • Physical Fitness (For few vacancies)

The educational qualifications varies according to the post for SSC CGL and is listed below:

Desirable Qualification: Not applicable

Statistical Investigator Grade-II Post

Essential Qualification: Graduation in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized university. The candidate must have studied Statistics as a subject in all the three years of the graduation course.

Desirable Qualification: Not applicable

All Other PostsEssential Qualification: Graduation in any subject from a recognized university or institute on or before 01-01-2021
Important Note

The candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess essential qualifications.

It is reiterated that the result of requisite educational qualification must have been declared by the Institute/ University by the specified date. Mere processing of the result by the University/ Institute by the cut-off date does not fulfill the EQ requirement.

How to Apply Online for SSC CGL 

Once the SSC CGL notification is released, candidates will be able to apply online for the exam on the official website of the Commission i.e. https://ssc.nic.in.

Filling online application for the examination comprises two parts:

I. One Time Registration

II. Filling of online Application for the Examination

Part-I: SSC CGL registrations

As the first step, candidates need to register themselves on the official website of the Commission. For the same, candidates can follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Visit the official website of SSC - ssc.nic.in
  2. Click on the ‘New User? Register Now link
  3. Fill the registration form
  4. Click on the Submit button
  5. Note down the system-generated registration ID

Part-II: SSC CGL application form

Now, candidates can log in to their registered accounts using their registration number and password and complete the remaining steps of the application process:

Upload scanned colored photo and signature as per the prescribed specifications:

Photograph: JPEG format, size 20-50KB, dimension 200×230 the photograph has been taken should be clearly printed on the photograph

Signature: JPEG format, size 10-20KB, dimension 140×60

Ques. I am in the last year of college. Can I apply for the SSC CGL exam?

Ans.  Yes, if your final result/mark sheet is declared before the date, then you are eligible to appear for the SSC CGL exam.

Ques. Is there any percentage criteria to apply for the SSC CGL Exam?

Ans.  There are no minimum percentage criteria to apply for SSC CGL exam.

 

Ques. Is there any negative marking in SSC CGL Exam?

Ans.  Yes, wrong answers will cost negative marks in CGL.

Ans.  Admit Cards will be released 15 days before the exam dates.
