SSC CGL 2021-22 Syllabus – Exam Pattern for Tier 3

SSC CGL Tier-III exam consists of a descriptive test where you are judged on your writing skills. Please note that the SSC CGL Tier III exam is bilingual in nature which means you have to write letters, essays, passage writing, and applications in either Hindi or English language only.

SSC CGL Syllabus Tier IV

SSC CGL Tier IV Syllabus comprises various skill tests. This test is conducted for certain government posts only. The SSC CGL syllabus of Tier IV is given below:

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria

SSC CGL eligibility criteria are based on four parameters:

  • Education Qualification – Bachelor’s degree (any stream) from a recognized university
  • Age Limit – 18 to 32 years
  • Nationality – Citizen of India, Nepal, or Bhutan
  • Physical Fitness (For few vacancies)

How to Apply Online for SSC CGL

Once the SSC CGL notification is released, candidates will be able to apply online for the exam on the official website of the Commission i.e.


Part-I: SSC CGL registrations

As the first step, candidates need to register themselves on the official website of the Commission. For the same, candidates can follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Visit the official website of SSC -
  • Click on the ‘New User? Register Now’ link
  • Fill the registration form
  • Click on the Submit button
  • Note down the system-generated registration ID

Part-II: SSC CGL application form

Now, candidates can login to their registered accounts using registration number and password and complete the remaining steps of the application process:

  • Upload scanned colored photo and signature as per the prescribed specifications:

Photograph: JPEG format, size 20-50KB, dimension 200×230   the photograph has been taken should be clearly printed on the photograph

Signature: JPEG format, size 10-20KB, dimension 140×60

  • Fill the remaining information in the application form.

Part-IV: Document Verification

The documents are required at the time of online application submission and final verification. The candidates must have a hard copy of online submitted documents at the time of final verification. Staff Selection Commission will call the qualified students for the document verification process after the completion of the exam process. The candidates must have their Matriculation Certificate, Graduation Certificate, Caste certificate (if filled), and other relevant documents. The candidates are allocated their posts online or at the time of document verification.



Ques. I am in the last year of college. Can I apply for the SSC CGL exam?

Ans.   Yes, if your final result/mark sheet is declared before the date, then you are eligible to appear for the SSC CGL exam.


Ques.  Are there any percentage criteria to apply for the SSC CGL Exam?

Ans.   There are no minimum percentage criteria to apply for the SSC CGL exam. 


Ques. Is there any negative marking in SSC CGL Exam?

Ans.   Yes, wrong answers will cost negative marks in CGL.

Ques. When will the SSC CGL admit card be released?

Ans.   Admit Cards will be released 15 days before the exam dates.

Ques.  How many times can the SSC CGL Exam be attempted?

Ans.    There is no limit to how many times can SSC CGL examination be attempted as long as the eligibility criteria (link) are fulfilled.
