CAPF Exam Selection Process

The Examination will be conducted in three stages as follows:

  1. CAPF Written Examination
  2. CAPF Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests
  3. CAPF  Interview/Personality Test

Phase-1: Medium Hindi/English (450 marks)

Note: Pregnancy at the time of PET will be a disqualification and pregnant female candidates will be rejected.

Phase-3: Interview/Personality Test : (150 Marks)

  1. Candidates who are declared qualified in the Medical Standards Tests will be called for an Interview/Personality Test to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
  2. Candidates who are declared medically unfit but allowed to appear before the “Review Medical Board” on appeal by the Appellate Authority will be called for Interview/Personality Tests provisionally.
  3. The Interview/Personality Test will carry 150 Marks. Candidates who are short-listed for the Interview/Personality Test, including those shortlisted for the Interview/Personality Test provisionally, will be issued a Detailed Application Form (DAF) in which, among other things, they will be required to indicate their preference of Forces.    

Final Selection / Merit : The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.

CAPF Exam Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:

A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree of a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Criteria (As on 01-01-2021)

A candidate must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable

Physical Standard:

Candidates must meet the prescribed Physical and Medical Standards for admission to the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination. The minimum requirements for the candidate are as follows:

  1. The body weights are given in this chart corresponding to only certain heights (in cms). In respect of height in between, the principle of ‘Average’ may be utilized for calculating body weights. 
  2. For calculating average weight beyond the heights tabulated, 0.71 kg for every one cm of increase or decrease in height may be added or subtracted respectively.

How to Apply Online for CAPF Exam

Once the UPSC CAPF Notification is released, candidates will be able to apply online for the exam on the official website of the Commission i.e. https://upsconline.nic.in

Application Process: 

As the first step, candidates need to register themselves on the official website of the Commission. For the same, candidates can follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Visit the official website of UPSC - https://upsconline.nic.in
  • Click on the ‘New User? Register Now’ link
  • Fill the registration form
  • Click on the Submit button
  • Note down the system-generated registration ID
  • Complete the application form with required details

Ques. I am in the last year of college. Can I apply for the UPSC CAPF Exam?

Ans.   Yes, if your final result/mark sheet is declared before the date, then you are eligible to appear for the UPSC CAPF exam.

Ques.  Are there any percentage criteria to apply for the UPSC CAPF Exam?

Ans.   There is no minimum percentage criteria to apply for the UPSC CAPF exam. 

Ques. Is there any negative marking in the UPSC CAPF Exam?

Ans.   Yes, wrong answers will cost  ⅓  negative marks..

Ques. When will the UPSC CAPF admit card be released?

Ans.   Admit Cards will be released three weeks before the exam dates.
