Alok Kumar Choudhary appointed as State Bank of India MD for 2 years**

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Mr.Alok Kumar Choudhary as the new Managing Director of State Bank of India, India’s largest public sector bank. He will take charge as MD with effect from 30 June of this year.

He was appointed for the period of two years, till the time of his retirement.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed Mr.Alok Kumar Choudhary, after he was recommended by the Banks Board Bureau (BBB), for the post of managing director of State Bank of India in March 2022.

Mr.Choudhary replaced former SBI MD Mr.Ashwani Bhatia.

Mr.Choudhary currently serves as the deputy Managing Director of SBI, and will be promoted to the role of the Managing Director with the government’s approval to the appointment.

As the SBI MD, Mr.Choudhary will look after the corporate banking and information technology sectors of the lender. Previously, he was in charge of the finance portfolio at SBI.

Mr.Choudhary started his career with SBI as a Probationary Officer of 1987 batch and has served in various geographical locations. He has worked as General Manager, DGM Business & Operations, Chief General Manager.
