A new initiative ‘SMBSaathi Utsav’ was launched by Whatsapp India in collaboration with Josh Talks to help small business go digital. It was a part of ‘SMBSaathi campaign’, launched in earlier 2022.
It was launched with an intention to support small businesses by helping them to adopt digital mediums like Whatsapp Business App to run their business.
The initiative was begin in Johri Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar of Jaipur where over 500 small businesses are being trained on various aspects of running a business online.
The collaboration was with the intent to educate and help small businesses to unlock the potential of their business through WhatsApp.
Indian country is home to approximately 6.3 Crores MSMEs accounting for 30% of the country’s GDP and currently employed over 110 million people. This MSME sector affected severely during the COVID pandemic and the sector’s income was declined by 20%-50%. Apart from COVID Pandemic, another reason for the decline in the income is lack of market access.
Earlier this year, Watsapp India showcased inspiring stories of business owners across India who pivoted to digital ways of doing business during the pandemic.
