USA HOUSE VOTES TO RAISE AGE FOR SEMI-AUTOMATIC WEAPONS**

INTERNATIONAL

The House of Representatives of the United States of America has voted and passed Gun control bill with 223-204 votes to raise the nationwide age limit for buying semi-automatic weapons from 18 to 21.  The new legislation would also ban the sale of ammunition magazines which can carry more than 15 rounds.

The measure was part of the ‘Protecting Our Kids Act package’ of gun reform policies in the wake of mass shootings.

The legislation was moved by the US President Mr.Joe Biden to curb gun violence as the country is facing horrific spate of mass shootings across Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York.

The newly introduced bill serves to show voters where lawmakers stand on the issue of gun violence in the country.

Recently, shootout of 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde has revived efforts in a way that has lawmakers from both parties talking about the need to respond. In another incident, 18 children and three adults were killed in a shoot out by an 18-year-old gunman in Uvalde.
