International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression Is Observed On 4th June

The International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is observed by the United Nations on 4th June.

The day was observed with an aim to acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse. The day focuses on children throughout the world who are innocent victims of violence and abuse.

Celebrating this day was approved by the UN during an emergency special session on the question of Palestine. The approval for the day was given on 19 August, 1982. 

The day was observed by the United Nations to protect children’s rights, as they are among the most innocent victims of pain and suffering.

According to recent statistics, about 536 million children live in countries affected by conflict or disasters. About 200 million children a year are victims of sexual violence every year.

The objective of this day is related to UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 16 i.e. to end abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and all forms of violence against children by 2030.

Following are the countries which are unsafe to the children - Pakistan, Egypt, Mozambique, Vietnam, China, Argentina, Russia, Nigeria and Indonesia.
