Telangana Formation Day is Being Observed on June 2

For the first time, the Union Government is organizing an event to celebrate the day when the state of Telangana was formed. The Telangana formation day is being observed on June 2 every year.

The event was organized by the Union Ministry of Culture as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Dr.Ambedkar International Centre. The Union Minister of Home Affairs will be the chief guest at the event. The event will also be attended by the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi.

The state of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into two states - Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on June 2, 2014 through Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 and the day is celebrated as Telangana Day or Telangana Formation Day. The year 2022 marks the eighth anniversary of the state.

The event aims to highlight the roots of the land of culture, heritage, architectural magnificence and unsung heroes of India's youngest state. During the event, popular singers like Mangali and Vedala Hemachandra from Telangana will be performing and also school children from Haryana will also perform in this event. Haryana is the paired state of Telangana under 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.

The programme 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' is the celebration of 75 years of Indian Independence. The commemorations will end after a year on August 15, 2023.
