Punjabi Writer Sultana Begum Passed Away

Renowned Punjabi writer and poet Sultana Begum passed away at the age of 72 due to a brief illness.

Writer Begum was born in 1949. She worked with the Punjab School Education Board, Mohali. After completing her MA in Punjabi and Urdu languages, she did her Ph.D. in Indian theatre. Begum also had a diploma in the Persian language. Her book 'Shugufe' became very popular. 

She was a Muslim, but she tends to Punjabi writing and Sikh religious literature.

Katra Katra Zindagi’ is the autobiography of the writer was a well-read and critically acclaimed book. A popular book 'Shugufe', her Punjabi book expresses her unique style of writing.

She had a lifelong search for her father, who had let the newborn return to India with her mother in 1949 and chosen to remain in Pakistan. She can’t find her father even on the last three visits to Pakistan in her final three years.
