The three-day Global Organic Expo- 2022 was concluded at Indian Agriculture Research Institute in New Delhi. The third edition of this expo was inaugurated by the former Chief Minister of Sikkim Dr. Pawan Kumar Chamling under the theme “Profitability for Humanity”.
The expo was organized by the Society of Health, Environment, Safety and Sustainability Professionals (ShesPro) in collaboration with ICONEX.
During Mr.Chamling’s address, he assured that India can become the first organic farming country in the world by the end of 2040.
When Mr.Chamling was the Chief Minister, his government had passed a resolution in State Assembly in 2003 to make Sikkim an organic farming state. After 12 years, the state transformed into a fully organic state on 31st December 2015. Then, in Jan 2016, the Prime Minister of India – Narendra Modi declared Sikkim as a 100% organic State”.
In the inaugural address of the expo, Mr.Chamling was introduced as the brand ambassador of organic agriculture.
Organic farming in India is an agricultural process, that uses pest control derived from organic manure and animal or plant waste. It is a new system of agriculture that repairs, maintains, and improves the ecological balance. The benefit of organic farming is to improve the health of the people and farmers and save the environment.
