Rajat Patidar of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) smashed the fastest century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Previously, KL Rahul, the skipper of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered the fastest century of the IPL-2022 in 56 balls.
Patidar smashed the century in 49-deliveries in the play-off (eliminator game) match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Eden Gardens. In this match, the RCB scored 207-runs for 4 wickets and won the match by 14-runs.
In this eliminator match, Patidar slammed 12 boundaries and seven sixes for scoring an unbeaten 112 off just 54 balls. He became the first-ever uncapped Indian in the history of the Indian Premier League to smash a century in playoffs.
The fastest century smashed in the play-offs of the IPL history are Patidar (49 deliveries), Wriddhiman Saha (49 deliveries), Virender Sehwag (50 deliveries), Murali Vijay (51 deliveries), and Shane Watson (51 deliveries).
In IPL history, the fastest century was hit by Chris Gayle of RCB in 30-balls in 2013.
In the month of April 2022, Hardik Pandya, the skipper of Gujarat Titans became the fastest Indian and third overall to reach 100 sixes in IPL cricket. The first two were Andre Russell and Chris Gayle.
