India is hosting the four-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO-RATS) summit in New Delhi. The summit began with key delegates from China, Pakistan, and Russia in attendance. The key agenda of this meeting is the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, especially regarding the security situation of the country.
A three-member inter-ministerial Pakistan delegate arrived in India and will stay in India until May 20th. The meeting will be concluded on 19th May.
Previously in November 2021, the third Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan was held in New Delhi in an expanded format.
The meeting is the first such since the two important events;
In the recently held South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), India and Pakistan have avoided same-time presence.
In 2023, India will attain the chairmanship of the SCO Summit. All eight members of the group will participate in this event.
In October 2022, New Delhi will hold the SCO RATS Council meeting. It has also proposed to hold joint Anti-Terrorist exercises in Manesar, Haryana this year.
SCO's RATS, based out of the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, is a permanent body of the grouping and aims to counter terrorism, extremism, and separatism in the region.
