Mr.Pushp Kumar Joshi took over as the new chairman and managing director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) - India's third-largest oil refining and fuel marketing company.
He was appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Previously, he served as the Director-HR of the Corporation since 2012. As Director-HR, Mr.Joshi has been responsible for overseeing the design and deployment of key human resource policies and strategies while leading human resources practices that are employee-oriented and aimed at building a high-performance culture.
Currently, he replaced Mr.Mukesh Kumar Surana who was superannuated from services on April 30, 2022. Mr.Joshi was named as the interim head of the corporation in-between days. The ACC now confirmed his appointment and he has formally taken over as the chairman and managing director of HPCL.
During his tenure on the Board, HPCL became a Maharatna Company and achieved the landmark profit after tax of Rs 10,000 crore in FY 2020-21. HPCL is also in the process of executing the Visakh Refinery Upgradation Project and greenfield refinery cum petrochemical complex at Barmer, Rajasthan.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited is a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) which is under the ownership of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Government of India.
