The state government of Chhattisgarh opened a C-Mart store in the Raipur district with the objective to promote local products and rural entrepreneurship.
The newly opened C-Mart will be a marketplace for the local products of Chhattisgarh which is made by women of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state and also makes people aware of the local products of Chhattisgarh. It will combine all the local products of the state and the self-group prepared products ‘under one roof’.
The state government is planning to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure to C-Mart, i.e. developing the C-Mart like a mall where local products of all districts of Chhattisgarh will be sold. Its outlets will be opened on district levels and a state-level megastore in the coming months.
The mart will have the following local products - Kodo, kutki, ragi, flour, honey, besan, papad, Badi, pickle, soap, oil, Bastar tamarind, mahua juice, mahua laddu, tikhur, Bastar artifacts, etc are found in the mart.
A self-help group is usually composed of 12 to 25 local women between the ages of 18 and 50 to come together to find ways to improve their living conditions.
