PM Modi Inaugurated Semicon India Conference 2022 in Bengaluru

The three-day Semicon India Conference-2022 was inaugurated by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bengaluru.

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to make India a leader in electronics manufacturing, semiconductor design and innovation. This conference will serve as the first of the series of events will be organized by the Ministry.

The conference was attended by experts from industry associations, research organizations and academia. A number of MoUs to be signed at this conference forging partnerships and alliances in the semiconductor space. 

The conference is envisioned as the launchpad to kick start the country’s ambition of becoming the global semiconductor hub and nurturing the chip design and manufacturing ecosystem. 

The three-day conference will attract the best minds from across the world and will act as a big step in fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of making India a global hub for electronics manufacturing and the semiconductor industry.

The participants will deliberate on policy, talent, the government’s role and efforts in creating a favorable growth environment for the semiconductor ecosystem in the country.

A logo of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) was unveiled during the conference to promote the objective of the mission. It was released by the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology. The logo has been created by Prashant Mishra from Varanasi. The logo signifies a handshake - signifying a collaborative approach and forms the shape of an 'S' which stands for semiconductor.

India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) has been set up as an Independent Business Division within Digital India Corporation having administrative and financial autonomy to formulate and drive India’s long-term strategies for developing semiconductors and display manufacturing facilities and semiconductor design ecosystem.
