IMPORTANT DAYS, BOOKS & AUTHORS
World Intellectual Property Day is observed annually on 26 April by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to "raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life" and "to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe".
The date April 26th was chosen for this day because it coincides with the date on which the Convention to establish the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force in 1970.
As the young people are the innovators, the creators and the entrepreneurs of the future, the day’s theme fixed for the year 2022 is 'IP and Youth Innovating for a Better Future'. The theme was selected to show how youth are driving positive change. Along with this theme, the day also celebrates youth-led innovation and creativity.
The day in 2022 provides an opportunity for young people to find out how IP rights can support their goals, help transform their ideas into reality, generate income, create jobs and make a positive impact on the world around them. The day also recognizes the huge potential of young people to find new and better solutions that support the transition to a sustainable future.
Currently, there are around 1.8 billion young people (aged 24) in the world who are the natural agents of change, carving pathways to a better future.
