A California-based company – ‘Biliti Electric Inc’ - intended to invest USD 150 million in Telangana to set up a factory to produce three-wheeler Electric vehicle in partnership with the Hyderabad-based Gayam Motor Works (GMW). This is the largest investment in Electric Vehicle manufacturing announced in the State this year.
They aim to manufacture 2,40,000 Electric vehicles annually, which will make them as the world’s largest electric three-wheeler factory. This new plant will generate around 3,000 employment opportunities in the State.
Telangana state welcomed this investment, to achieve the State’s policy to become a global hub for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage manufacturing.
In phase-1, the company will manufacture 18,000 vehicles annually and set to be operational by 2023. In phase-2, the company will manufacture 240,000 vehicles a year and will be operational by 2024.
The plants will produce all of Biliti’s products including the cargo model ‘Taskman’ and the passenger version ‘Urban’ to serve customers in the global markets. The last-mile delivery vehicle ‘Taskman’ is deployed in 15 countries across the globe and used by Amazon, IKEA, Wasoko (Sokowatch),
BigBasket (Tata), Zomato, etc.,
It comes on the heels of Fisker, another California-based company, announcing that its second headquarters will be in Hyderabad.
