New Indian Army Chief


  • Lieutenant General Manoj Pande was appointed as the next Chief of Army Staff.
  • He is the 29th Indian Army Chief and will replace General MM Naravane as his tenure will end by the end of this month (April 30).
  • The Chief of the Army Staff is the head of the Indian Army Headquarters and the highest-ranking officer of the Indian Army.
  • After he took charge, he will become the first commander of the Corps of Engineers to lead the 1.3 million-strong force.
  • Lt Gen Manoj Pande, currently serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff.
  • He was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers (Bombay Sappers) of the Indian Army in 1982.
