Mr.Prabhat Patnaik - Indian economist and political commentator - was selected for the Malcolm Adiseshiah Award for the year 2022.
The award is given annually to an outstanding social scientist who was selected by specially constituted national jury.
The award consists of a citation and prize money of ₹2 lakh.
The award will be given by the Malcolm and Elizabeth Adiseshiah Trust at a function to be held in Chennai.
Dr. Patnaik has taught at the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning in the School of Social Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He also served as the Vice Chairman of the Kerala State Planning Board.

Malcolm Sathiyanathan Adiseshiah (1910 – 1994), was an Indian development economist and educator. In 1976 he was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
