Airports to Get Ambulifts Facility


  • Under ‘Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan’, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has equipped 14 airports with Made-in-India ambulifts to help flyers.
  • The ambulifts help the flyers with reduced mobility in boarding an aircraft, divyang travellers on wheelchair, and passengers on stretchers during their air travel.
  • The 14 airports were in Dehradun, Gorakhpur, Patna, Bagdogra, Darbhanga, Imphal, Vijayawada, Port Blair, Jodhpur, Belgaum, Silchar, Jharsuguda, Rajkot and Hubli.
  • Six more ambulifts will have this facility by end of this month.
  • Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan (also known as Accessible India Campaign) is a program launched in 2015 to serve the differently-able community of the country.
