Mizoram Banned Import of Pigs


● Short Summary: Mizoram banned import of pigs, port and other pig products.
● New cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) were detected in 384 pig deaths reported in the Mizoram state.
● Due to this, the state government of Mizoram completely banned the import of live pigs, fresh pork and all other pork products in the state.
● The government also issued helpline numbers for immediate reporting of any unusual mortality of pigs.
● Earlier in February, the state government lifted the ban on the import of pigs and pork products.
