  • The ‘Mukhyamantri Nibir Matsyachash Prakalpa’ scheme was launched by the Chief Minister of Tripura to boost the state’s economy.
  • It is a new fish farming scheme launched with an aim to become self-sufficient in fish production.
  • As the state has huge business potential for fish farming, the scheme will enhance the livelihood of the farmers.
  • Apart from the owners, the government also arranged KCC loans for the fish farmers who take a lease of the owner's land or water source.
  • In the recent state budget, the government allotted Rs 6 Cr for setting up biofloc units across the state. Biofloc and cage cultivation are methods of fish farming.
