Padma Shri Awards


  • Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award given by the President of India at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • Tokyo Olympic Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra was awarded with the prestigious Padma Shri award in the field of sports.
  • Paralympic badminton player Pramod Bhagat won the award in the Category of Sports. He is the first Indian to win a gold medal in para badminton under the men's singles SL3 class.
  • Playback Singer Sonu Nigam won the award under the ‘Arts’ category. He sung the songs in Hindi, Kannada, Odia, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Nepali, Malayalam, Bhojpuri.
  • Buddhist monk Guru Tulku Rinpoche won the award under ‘spiritualism’ category. He headed the Tawang monastery till 2016.
  • Professor Mr. Rutger Kortenhorst - Ireland Sanskrit teacher was awarded with the Padma Shri Award for his dedicated work to propagate the Sanskrit language in Ireland.
  • Rutger Kortenhorst was also honoured by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations with the 'World Sanskrit Prize' in 2020.
