India Abstain from Voting on UNGA Resolution


  • The United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) passed a draft resolution ‘Humanitarian consequences of the aggression against Ukraine’ for vote.
  • This was passed at the 11th Emergency Special Session on Ukraine and India abstained from voting.
  • The resolution was adopted with 140 votes in favour of the resolution, five against it and 38 abstentions. With this, the resolution was passed by the UNGA which urges a cease-fire.
  • The countries voted against the resolution - Russia, Syria, North Korea, Eritrea and Belarus.
