DEFENCE, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
A country's first research on India-specific vehicle usage scenarios based on futuristic V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication technology was jointly taken up by the IIT Hyderabad (IIT-H), Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL).
The first-of-its-kind five prototype vehicles demonstrated in the Indian context were displayed at the IIT Hyderabad.
The V2X communications technology can help reduce traffic accidents and traffic congestion when used in conjunction with appropriate infrastructure, traffic rules, and driver education. The main purpose of V2X technology is to improve road safety, energy savings, and traffic efficiency on the roads.
In the demonstration, features like Ambulance Alerting System, Wrong-way Driver Alerting system, Motorcycle Alerting System, and Road Condition Alerting System have been demonstrated.
In the Ambulance Alerting System, car drivers are alerted about an approaching emergency vehicle and its path through this V2X communication technology. It helps the driver to make way for the emergency vehicle.
In the Wrong-way Driver Alerting System, car drivers get a pre-alert about the existence of a wrong-way-driver approaching using V2X communication technology.
The Pedestrian Alerting System, alert assists car drivers about a pedestrian nearby, who could be coming in the way of the car. This will help the drivers to take precautionary measures to avoid a potential collision.
