5000-Year-Old Jewellery Making Factory Discovered in Rajgiri

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) made one of its biggest discoveries yet with the excavation of a 5000-year-old jewellery making factory by discovering a necklace. It was discovered in RakhiGarhi, Hisar district of Haryana. The 5000-year-old necklace will be displayed at the National Museum.

Copper and gold jewellery were also found which had been hidden for thousands of years. Rakhi Garhi is one of the oldest archaeological sites belonging to the Indus Valley Civilisation (IVC). ASI working in Rakhi Garhi for the last 32 years. 

Apart from the jewellery factory, thousands of earthen pots, royal seals, and children's toys have also been excavated at this site. In the last two months, ASI has made a lot of discoveries here on this site, which points to the civilisation progressing steadily towards development. 

In the ASI’s exploration, the structure of some houses, a kitchen complex and a 5000-year-old jewellery making factory were discovered. With these discoveries, they concluded that the site must be a very important trade centre in ancient times.

Earlier, in 2018, Bronze Age ‘solid-disk wheel carts’ were discovered in Sinauli, Uttar Pradesh.
