The mascot, logo, jersey and theme song of the 4th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) which is scheduled for June 2022, were launched by the state government of Haryana at Panchkula’s Indradhanush Auditorium. The ceremony was attended by the Chief Minister of the state and the Union Sports Minister.
Khelo India Youth Games will be held in various places like Panchkula, Chandigarh, Delhi, Shahabad and Ambala from June 4 to 13. In this game, more than 8,000 athletes will participate.
In this 4th edition of the game, 5 traditional games will be added - Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Thang-Ta, Mallakhamba and Yogasana. With this, a total of 25 sports will feature in this event.
The Union Sports Ministry recently approved Rs 6 lakhs each for 2,300 athletes to provide them with better facilities and Rs.140 crores are being spent on young athletes to further support them.
Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) are the annual national-level game being organized jointly by the state government and the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The game is usually held in January or February for two categories, namely under-17 years school students and under-21 college students. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018.
In 2019, Khelo India App was launched at the Youth Indian Parliament by the Indian Prime Minister to promote sports and fitness.
