The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Mr.Tarun Kapoor, Former petroleum secretary as the new advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was appointed for a period of two years from the date of joining.
He was a 1987-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre. He was superannuated as the secretary of the ministry of petroleum and natural gas on November 30, 2021. Before three months, he was selected as the Chairman of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).
He has extensive experience at central and state levels including as vice-chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and as additional chief secretary in the government of Himachal Pradesh.
Along with him, Senior bureaucrats Mr.Hari Ranjan Rao and Mr.Atish Chandra have been appointed as additional secretaries in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Mr.Hari Ranjan Rao is a 1994-batch lAS officer and currently working as an administrator at the Universal Services Obligation Fund in the department of telecommunications. Mr.Atish Chandra is currently working as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Food Corporation of India, department of food and public distribution.
