A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Google and the state government of Telangana to bring the benefits of the digital economy to provide skill training to the youth and women entrepreneurs. The agreement was exchanged between Mr.KT Rama Rao, IT and Industries Minister of Telangana and Mr.Sanjay Gupta, the country head of Google India.
Under the scheme, the various arms of Google work to extend scholarships for Google Career Certificates to Telangana's youth, support women entrepreneurs through digital, business and financial skills training, and strengthen the government's school modernization efforts with digital teaching and learning tools and solutions. The objective behind the ‘Google Career Certificates’ programme is to make the youths “job-ready” for the demand for digital talent.
The scholarships are routed through the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge and training would be focused on high-demand fields like IT Support, IT Automation, UX Design, Data Analytics, and Project Management.
As per the agreement, Google will also start a programme called "WomenWill" to train women in business and financial skills for nano, micro and small women-led businesses and entrepreneurs across Telangana.
Google will also support the Telangana government's efforts to improve public transportation and the use of digital technologies in agriculture in the state.
Google has acquired the 7.3-acre site at Gachibowli in the city in 2019 for a ground-up development building that prioritizes sustainability and energy efficiency. Now the design plan was unveiled by the IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao.
