Actor Deepika Padukone will be a part of the eight-member competition jury at the 75th edition of the International Cannes Film Festival-2022, which will run from May 17-28. She is the only Indian member of the special jury. The jury will reward one of the 21 films in competition with the Palme d’Or during the closing ceremony of the film festival on May 28.
The jury will be headed by French actor and Film-maker Mr.Vincent Lindon. Other jury members include actor-filmmaker Rebecca Hall, Swedish actor Noomi Rapace, Italian actor-director Jasmine Trinca, acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, French filmmaker-actor Ladj Ly, filmmaker Jeff Nichols and director-screenwriter Joachim Trier from Norway.
Earlier she was the chairperson of the ‘Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival’ for two years.
This will be the first time when Deepika Padukone will attend the Cannes Film Festival as a jury member. Earlier, she was named among the ‘100 Most Influential People in the World by ‘Time Magazine’.
Actress Padukone found fame with her 2007 film Om Shanti Om, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan, and later featured in several blockbusters and critically acclaimed movies like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Piku. She made her debut in Hollywood in 2017 in the action movie ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ co-starred by Vin Diesel.
