At the Archery World Cup Stage 1, Ridhi Phor and Tarundeep Rai of India won the gold medal in recurve mixed team event by defeating Bryony Pitman and Alex Wise of Great Britain.
By winning this gold medal, India thus ended its campaign in the first outdoor event of the year with two gold medals. The first was won by India’s compound men’s team of Abhishek Verma, Rajat Chauhan, and Aman Saini by defeating France team.
This was 38-year-old Rai's first-ever mixed team medal in the World Cup and this is the first world cup medal for the 17-year-old Ridhi Phor. Two-time Olympian Rai and the young Phor partnered for the first time. Previously, Indian archery's evergreen man Rai, won the Asian Games silver in Guangzhou in 2010.
The Archery World Cup was started in 2006 and organized by the World Archery Federation following the success of the 2003 World Archery Championships in New York and the 2004 Summer Olympics. The 2022 Archery World Cups Stage-1 was held in Antalya, a city in Turkey.
