In the recently held presidential election in France, Mr.Emmanuel Macron won the election and elected as the new President of France for the second term by winning 58.2% of the vote. His opposite Ms.Marine Le Pen won 41.8% of the vote in the election. This is the country's highest abstention rate in 50 years. Macron beat Le Pen with a lower margin than the 66% he won against her in 2017.

Mr.Jacques René Chirac was the first President of France for two terms (1995 to 2007). He was previously Prime Minister of France from 1974 to 1976 and from 1986 to 1988, as well as Mayor of Paris from 1977 to 1995.
Macron’s notable election campaign was on the cost-of-living crisis and promised a ban on the Muslim headscarf in public places. He worked as a senior civil servant at the Inspectorate General of Finances and later became an investment banker at Rothschild & Co.
