The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) organizes the IBPS Bank PO exam every year to select Probationary Officers (PO) in different public sector banks. The IBPS PO exam has three levels - Preliminary, Mains, and Interview.

IBPS PO Selection Process

IBPS PO selection process comprises three phases. A candidate must qualify each to proceed to the next phase.

IBPS Preliminary Exam

  • It is a Computer Based examination
  • IBPS shortlists candidates in each category (General/ SC/ST/PWBD) for the Main Examination

IBPS Mains Exam

  • It is a Computer Based examination
  • The candidates qualifying for the preliminary examination appear for this examination
  • The candidates must qualify the sectional and an overall cutoff in the main exam to be eligible for the interview
  • There is a different cut-off list for qualifying the Main examination for each category (General/ SC/ST/PWBD)

Interview Process

  • The interview will be conducted by the Participating Organisation and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/UT with the help of IBPS

Eligibility Criteria 

IBPS PO eligibility criteria are based on four parameters:

  • Education Qualification – Bachelor’s degree (any stream) from a recognized university
  • Age Limit – 20 to 30 years
  • Nationality – Citizen of India, Nepal, or Bhutan

Once the IBPS PO notification is announced, candidates will apply online for the exam on the official website of the commission.

  • A provisional registration number and password will be sent to the registered email address and registered mobile number

Ques. Can I appear for IBPS PO with a 55% graduation score?

Ans.   Yes, you can appear for IBPS PO with a 55% graduation score. There is no percentage cut-off, but the candidate must have completed the graduation.

Ques.  What is the selection process for IBPS PO?

Ans.    IBPS PO is held in three stages: Prelims, Mains and Interview. The candidate will have to clear each stage to qualify for an IBPS PO appointment.

Ques.  When will the online applications start?

Ans.    IBPS PO notification will be released in the first week of August.

Ques. What is the cut-off for IBPS PO recruitment?

Ans.    There is no fixed cut-off. It depends on the performance of the candidates each year.

Note: Negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer

Candidates must clear the cutoff in all three sections to qualify for IBPS PO Main Exam.  

IBPS does not fix the cut-off marks. Instead, it decides to depend on the question paper. An adequate number of candidates in each category are shortlisted for the Mains examination depending upon requirements.

Prelims exam is only qualifying, which means marks got in the Prelims exam will not be added anywhere else.
